In addition to our weekly rehearsals, we have one or two weekend retreats each semester. In order to ensure a good musical standard, 70% attendance to the rehearsals is necessary. The entire schedule is conveyed at the beginning of each term.
In order to meet the various needs, interests and standards of our singers, we offer eight choirs with different audition requirements.
The groups Voice Club Beginners, Voice Club Women, Concert Choir (Classic Beginners), Femmes Vocales and Singing Generations are for singers without much prior experience, singers who are starting after a long break or for those who do not have more time than to visit weekly rehearsals. Depending on the choir group, you can just come and sing along, or get a voice check done so that we can determine your voice range.
Auditions for new musicians/singers are closed for this winter term and the next auditions will take place in the beginning of March 2018. You can register below and we will inform you about the exact dates in due course.
Simply sing with us!
For the groups Voice Club Beginners and Singing Generations no audition or voice check are necessary. For Voice Club Beginners, we cannot receive new female voices before winter term 2018.
Voice check, but no sight reading:
For the Concert Choir Classic Beginners, Femmes Vocales and Voice Club Women a voice check is necessary, however no sight reading test is required.
Auditions for advanced singers
The groups Philharmonic Choir, Symphonic Choir for Women and Voice Club Advanced are for experienced singers. An audition is necessary for these groups where a sight reading test and basics of vocal technique are required. However, you do not have to prepare anything. These choirs sing challenging works demanding more ambition and time from the singers. In order to ensure a high standard, it is necessary that singers attend more intense rehearsals schedules and can learn parts of the works individually.
You do not have to prepare anything and the audition is not difficult! You do not have to be a student of the Vienna University to join the choirs.
Many first year students, international students and all who are generally new to Vienna join our community and have yet to meet people outside of their own university courses.
