Philharmonic Orchestra

We rehearse once a week. In addition there are one or two weekend retreats each semester. In order to ensure good musical quality, it is necessary that you attend at least 80% of the rehearsals. All appointments will be given at the beginning of the term.
The following positions will be free in autumn 2018:

One 1st flute
One 3rd oboe and corno inglese
One 4th horn
One 2nd and one 3rd trombone
One bassoon
Strings- especially violas and double basses

The next Audition is in the beginning of October 2018. You do not have to study at the Vienna University to take part in the orchestra.

Trumpets, trombones and tubas can prepare a work of their choice.
There will be a sight reading test for all musicians.

For certain instruments the following requirements are obligatory:
Flautists must have a piccolo and be able to play it.
Clarinet players must have a B- and A-clarinet.
Trumpeters must have a B- and C-trumpet.

Pianists, percussionists and harpists send an e-mail at probespiel@​philharmonie.​wien. We are also looking for pianists for choir accompaniment.

Symphony Orchestra

We will found a new orchestra for a new generation of students. The auditions for this orchestra will be easier. We are looking for all instruments.

Many first year students, international students and all who are generally new to Vienna join our community and have yet to meet people outside of their own university courses. In order to introduce and welcome you to our community, we organise a Speed Friending” in October and a give welcome concert. After this we all go dancing and you are invited to a free beer.
