Femmes Vocales

This women’s chorus consists of enthusiastic singers aged 55 and above who have the motivation and enthusiasm to sing demanding choir works. At a certain age the voice becomes deeper and especially in low ranges a warm, soft sound can be achieved, one which is hard to create with younger voices. Therefore this choir has a very special sound. The broad repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to operetta and folk music.

This summer term, the choir will sing Gustav Mahler’s songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn”.
A new composition An Austrian Christmas” for large orchestra, distant orchestra and three choirs by Vijay Upadhyaya, which is based on traditional Austrian Christmas carols, will be premiered on December 12th at the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein.

In the past year the choir sang parts from My fair Lady”, the Mass in a major by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger.
Other projects were a gala Christmas concert at the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, works by Mendelssohn, Rheinberger and Saint Säens, the Stabat Mater” by Pergolesi , the Carmina Burana and the Messe des Pecheurs de Villerville” by Gabriel Fauré were sung. In July 2017 a concert tour to Helsinki and St. Petersburg was undertaken.

We are particularly looking for sopranos in this choir, but all singers are very welcome. No audition is necessary for this choir, we suggest you come to the choir and rehearse for four weeks. Then we offer a voice check where we can determine your exact voice range.
