Männersache – Vienna Gay Men’s Chorus

The choir has about 50 singers repertoire includes classical works as well as pop, musicals and ranges from shows to classical music. In this choir we want to sing beautiful music and at the same time present the face of the Viennese gay community in a mainstream social setting. In this group there is also the possibility to sing solo and to discover the star in you.

The choir sings two pop programs and one classical program per academic year. On December 19th, a pop Christmas concert, "A Swinging Christmas" will be sung at the Musikverein. On May 19th and 20th, 2024, Gustav Mahler's 8th Symphony will be performed together with the other choirs in the Vienna Konzerthaus. In June 2024 a pop concert will be sung.

In March 2023 a medley from “Westside Story” by Leonard Bernstein and in June Carl Orff‘s “Carmina Burana” were performed. In December, this choir sang Pop Concerts, “Abba and the 70s” in the grand ceremonial hall of the Vienna University. Past projects include “The World of Opera”, as well as parts from „Les Miserables“ and „Sound of Music“.

No sight reading is required for this choir but a voice check is required and the upper age limit to join is 55 and the upper age limit is 60.
