Symphonic Women’s Choir
This is a women’s chorus for experienced singers where symphonic choir literature, oratorios a cappella pieces as well as pop and world music are sung. In all periods of music history challenging choral literature has been composed for women's voices and this group dedicates itself to this repertoire. This choir mainly sings works for women's voices but projects with the mixed choirs are also undertaken. Singers in this choir have certain sight reading skills and basic knowledge of vocal techniques. This choir is also a networking platform for professional women and the age structure is between 18 and 50 years.
On December 7th and 14th concerts “The Roaring 80s” with music by Elton John and Duran Duran will be sung , and on June 9th and 10th 2025, symphonic music from France and Switzerland with works by Claude Debussy, Gabriel Faure and Arthur Honegger will be performed. These works are seldom performed original compositions for women's choir and orchestra.
From 9th to 14th September there will be an optional choir workshop for women’s choirs in Vorarlberg.
In June 2024,“Miriams Siegesgesang” by Franz Schubert was sung. Previous projects were Gustav Mahler's 2nd Symphony, the Mozart Requiem, and “A Ceremony of Carols” by Benjamin Britten.
You do not need to audition for this choir for the first semester. At the end of the first semester, there will be an evaluation, as musical and basic sight-reading skills are required. Singers who do not want to do this audition immediately can also sing in the Voice Club Beginners for a year and then switch to this choir. We are particularly looking for mezzo-sopranos and altos in this choir, but all singers are welcome.
