Symphonic Choir
This is an advanced choral group which sings mainly symphonic and a-cappella classical works as well projects involving pop, jazz und world music. Singers in this choir have musical experience and certain sight reading skills, but the level is slightly easier than in the Philharmonic Choir. This choir sings two classical projects and one pop programme in each academic year.
In June the choir will sing "The Dream of Gerontius" by Edward Elgar in the Golden Hall of the Wiener Musikverein.
In December the Symphonic Choir sang at the concert „Gospels and Spirituals and in January the Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi.
Previous projects included Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony at the Wiener Konzerthaus, music from the video game "Genshin Impact", a medley from the musical "Les Misérables", Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th symphony, "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff, “Schicksalslied” and motets by Johannes Brahms and the gala concert "Concert des Continents" at the Wiener Musikverein with world music from Africa.
An audition with a sight-reading test and a voice check is required for this choir and there is an upper age limit of 45 years. We are primarily looking for male voices, but all voices are welcome.
