Camerata Vocalis
This choir consists of our most talented and ambitious singers who possess sufficient musical training, sight reading skills and singing techniques. It is assumed that a part of the repertoire is learned in self-study, so that the joint rehearsals can mainly concentrate on the musical interpretation of the works. The repertoire includes symphonic works and oratorios, as well as a cappella works from the Renaissance to the modern age. The choir sings 3-4 concert series each year with a focus on classical music.
In June the choir will sing the oratorio "The Dream of Gerontius" by Edward Elgar at the Golden Hall of the Wiener Musikverein. The 2nd Symphony by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy will be performed in on December 12 and 13 at the Ceremony Hall of the University and on December 17, 2026, and January 17, 2027, Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 3. Will be sung at the Musikverein. The main project of the next year will be the "Missa Solemnis" commemorating the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's death. This rarely sung and demanding work will be performed at the Musikverein on March 27 and April 30, 2027. Further performances of the work are being planned. On June 11 and 13 2027, Frank Martin's Mass for Two Choirs will be sung.
Previous projects included the Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi, Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony at the Wiener Konzerthaus, music from the video game "Genshin Impact", "Ein deutsches Requiem" by Johannes Brahms, the Christmas Oratorio and the B minor Mass by Johann Sebastian Bach, the "Trois Chansons" by Claude Debussy, "Daphnis et Chloe" by Maurice Ravel, as well as a cappella works by Francis Poulenc and Olivier Messiaen.
An audition including a sight-reading test is required. Additionally, a simple Baroque aria (e.g., Handel's "Lascia ch'io pianga" or "Ombra mai fu") will be sent in advance for solo performance at the audition. This choir is primarily seeking good sopranos, but all voices are welcome. The age range is between 18 and 45 years.
